Joe Arnote

I am a fairly new teacher here at Carson High School. I graduated from Boston College in 1978 and also attended graduate school there, where I studied Political Science and Economics. I have worked as a stockbroker and in publishing. Also I have owned a small restaurant in Yerington, Nevada, for many years. My wife Kathy and I have four children and somehow have raised them all through their teenage years, except for our youngest, Allison, who is 17...She is surely a challenge.

My goal is to "change lives," not just to teach "stuff," and I consider this a great challenge and an honor.

I strongly encourage my students to try really hard to develop friendships with English speakers...This is critical for extending their communications and social skills, as well as cultural awarness. I also advise and host the United Cultures Club and interact on Wednesdays at lunch in my room, #238

The link I feel is most important is cnn.com because being up on the current news will give them great and revelant topics to discuss with native speakers.

I am available for advice and extra help with your work from 2:00-3:00 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Stop by my room if you like to play chess!
