Welding 1
Welding I is an exploratory course designed to introduce the students to some of the many facets to metalworking and related areas. Safe use of all equipment will be emphasized. Students will develop skills in basic welding processes which include oxyacetylene, shield metal arc, gas metal arc, gas and arc cutting. Students will practice in the lab doing a variety of joints and beads. Skills will be developed in a layout, cutting, beadings and forming. Introduction to equipment will be made.
The students will learn how to read measuring tools, set-up and safe use of machines. Each student is given a chance to do a range of projects. Safety glasses and a pair of coveralls is required for the course.
Note: All students must pass a safety test for each machine before operating it.
This is a WNCC articulated 2+2 program.
Fee is $10 per semester.
