Welding 2, 3/4 and Sheet Metal

These welding classes are taught in the same period because they are advanced welding classes.

Welding 2 is designed to provide the students with occupational training in welding. Students will continue to develop advanced skills in arc welding, gas metal arc, and oxyacetylene welding. The development of advanced projects will be emphasized. This will include skills in layout, set-up, and using the proper equipment to fabricate the project. Two-thirds of the coursework will be hands-on and major project fabrication.

Prerequisite:  Welding and Metal Technology 1.

Fee is $10 per semester.

Welding 3/4 is designed to provide the students with welding and other related type machine work. Students will continue to develop advanced skills in arc welding, gas metal arc, and oxyacetylene welding. Students will be introduced to gas metal arc principles, and functions. The development of advanced projects and out of position welding will be emphasized. This will include skills in layout, set-up, and using the proper equipment to fabricate the project. Two-thirds of this course work will be hands-on and major fabrications. Safe use of machines will be emphasized.

Prerequisite: Welding and Metal Technology 2.

Fee is $10 per semester.

Sheet Metal is a basic course designed to teach students the many areas of sheet metal work and design. Students will develop skills working with various hand tools and power equipment. Safe use of all equipment will be emphasized. Skills will be developed in layout, cutting, breaking and forming. An introduction to the break, stamp shear bar roll and shaping tools will be done. The students will learn how to read measuring tools and the set up and safe use of all machines. Each student will be given a chance to do a range of projects.

Note: All students must pass a safety test before use of any machine.

Fee is also $10 per semester.
