COURSE TITLE | ||||
Photography I | ||||
Prerequisite: None This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of commercial photography in relation to seeing photographically, operating cameras, use of light, image capture, and processing digital images. Students will also learn the history of photography, legal and ethical issues related to the industry. Career exploration is also a part of this course. This course will fulfill the Career and Technical Education graduation requirement. Through fun and challenging projects utilizing the elements of design students learn to create aesthetically strong artistic images, as well as how to effectively critique them. Students will also learn the history of photography, legal and ethical issues related to the industry. Students may also earn as Adobe Certified Associate Certificate by the end of the year, which is great for their resume. Digital cameras are provided for the class. Career exploration is also a part of this course.This course is based on or meets the Nevada State Photography Skills Standards. Juniors and Seniors can earn three college credits through WNC (Tech Prep Credit) with a grade of B or higher. Lab Fee: $30. |

Photography II | ||||
Prerequisite: Photography I This course is a continuation of Photography I. This course provides intermediate photography students with instruction in advanced digital techniques and processes. Areas of study include operating cameras, use of light, image capture, and processing digital images. Students will also learn the history of photography, legal and ethical issues related to the industry. The appropriate use of technology and industry-standard equipment is an integral part of this course. Through more challenging and creative projects utilizing the elements of design students learn to create aesthetically strong artistic images, as well as how to effectively critique them. Areas of study include operating DSLR cameras, use of light, studio equipment, image capture, and processing digital images, as well as studio lights, meters, reflectors, and other equipment to facilitate greater skills. They will learn more about portraits (outdoor and studio), sports nature, and still-life photography. Students will also learn the history of photography, legal and ethical issues related to the industry. The appropriate use of technology and industry standard equipment is an integral part of this course. This course will fulfill the Career and Technical Education graduation requirement. Photography III | ||||
Prerequisite: Photography II This course is a continuation of Photography II. This course provides advanced photography students with instruction in advanced digital techniques and processes in commercial photography. Manipulation of images using industry-standard software is also included. Students will be required to exhibit their projects. Students will be prepared for industry certifications. The appropriate use of technology and industry-standard equipment is an integral part of this course. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have acquired entry-level skills for employment in this field. This course will fulfill the Career and Technical Education graduation requirement. This course is based on or meets the Nevada State Photography Skills Standards. Lab Fee: $30. |

Photography Advanced Studies | ||||
Prerequisite: Photography III This course is offered to students who have achieved all content standards in a program whose desire is to pursue advanced study through investigation and in-depth research. Students are expected to work independently or in a team and consult with their supervising teacher for guidance. The supervising teacher will give directions, monitor, and evaluate the students’ topic of study. Coursework may include various work-based learning experiences such as internships and job shadowing, involvement in a school-based enterprise, completion of a capstone project, and/or portfolio development. This course may be repeated for additional instruction and credit. This course will fulfill the Career and Technical Education graduation requirement. This course is based on or meets the Nevada State Photography Skills Standards. Lab Fee: $30. |
