COURSE TITLE
  Welding Technology I
  Prerequisite: None
This course will introduce the student to the concepts and practices in welding while allowing the more ambitious student to gain occupational training experience necessary to participate in the American Welding Society Certification test. This course is intended to provide students with the basic knowledge, skills, and theory in the characteristics of metals, their structure and properties, and welding technologies. Students will gain an understanding of welding equipment, tools, safety procedures, machine operation, and industrial applications, and provide them with entry-level skills for employment. This course will fulfill the Career and Technical Education graduation requirement. This course is based on or meets the Nevada State Welding Technology Skills Standards. Juniors and Seniors can earn three college credits through WNC (Tech Prep Credit) with a grade of B or higher. Lab Fee: $40 and each student must also purchase a pair of coveralls.

  Welding Technology II
  Prerequisite: Welding Technology I
This course is a continuation of Welding I. This course provides intermediate welding students the ability to augment and further the skill and knowledge levels. Areas of study will include advanced layout and fabrication methodologies, gas tungsten arc welding of aluminum, stainless steel and TIG spot welding, welding metallurgy, and electric theory. All student activities are designed to enhance students’ skill levels toward achievement of American Welding Society certification and/or American Society of Mechanical Engineering welding certification. The appropriate use of technology and industry-standard equipment is an integral part of this course.

  Welding Technology III
  Prerequisite: Welding Technology II
This course is a continuation of Welding II. This course provides advanced welding students the ability to augment and further their skill and knowledge levels. All student activities are designed to prepare the students’ skill levels to achieve the American Welding Society certification and/or American Society of Mechanical Engineering welding certification. The appropriate use of technology and industry-standard equipment is an integral part of this course. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have acquired entry-level skills for employment in this field. This course will fulfill the Career and Technical Education graduation requirement. This course is based on or meets the Nevada State Welding Technology Skills Standards.
